Ministry Report: September 2023

Family Update

Thandiwe and Ivanna are back to school. Ernest went for surgery after he tore his achille’s tendon on his right leg. He is on crutches and is immobilised for some time. This means many ministry opportunities have been cancelled or postponed. Because of that, our ministry report for the month is really brief. In other news, Ernest turned 34 on September 14th. Ivanna turned 7 on September 23rd and Theo turned 1 on September 24th.

11th Marriage Anniversary – Friday 1st September 2023

We celebrated 11 years of marriage. Waturi and I took time on Monday the 5th of September to go on a date at Brackenhurst Conference Centre. We got married at Brackenhurst. We reflected on the past 11 years and evaluated our strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. We gave thanks to God and asked Him to guide us on the forthcoming years.

BOY MEETS GIRL VOL. 20 – Sunday 3rd September 2023

We held the 20th volume of Boy Meets Girl. The theme was Practical Passionate Purity II. We hosted Rawder Kidula. She did a great job sharing her testimony and encouraging the attendees on how to pursue purity passionately. We had a great number of people who came forward for prayer after the session. Here is the recorded session: https://youtu.be/iz2Qqm0ccWU?si=f7q7d7bsTgdHVXM7

Deliverance for J – Thursday 7th September 2023

A man by the name J came for inner healing and restoration. J’s marriage was falling apart. He was also battling a lot of doubt about God’s promises in the scriptures. J spoke his heart out about all the things that were frustrating him. We prayed through the scriptures and addressed the questions and doubts he had. He was also harbouring unforgiveness towards a few people. After he forgave them as God in Christ forgave him, he felt a lot of relief He tore the pieces of paper where he had done the assignment. He wrote to me that evening saying that shredding the papers and throwing them in the bin made him feel like he had started a new life.

Speaking to singles at Chrisco Upperroom Nairobi Retreat – Saturday 9th September 2023

I was invited by Chrisco Upperroom for their singles retreat. It was held at the Bomb Blast Memorial Park in Nairobi CBD. The event attracted about 90 young men and women. We had a great interactive time on the subject of choosing a life partner. The youth shared their views and their opinions and I wrapped up each section of discussion with wisdom from God’s word.

Speaking at Moi Forces Academy High School – Sunday 10th September 2023

L to R: Kevin Kanyi, Raphael Makau, Ernest Wamboye and Nicholas Kariuki Thande

Moi Forces Academy invited me to speak to the boys in their high school division. I was tasked to preach on the subject of sexual purity. I was accompanied by friends from our church, Mamlaka Hill Chapel Ruaka. They were Kevin Kanyi, Raphael Makau and Kariuki Thande. I preached from Genesis 39, on the life of Jospeh and contrasted it with the life of his brother Reuben. In the midst of the sermon, I made a very clear presentation of the Gospel message. More than 100 souls repented and gave their lives to Christ. The school is planning for their baptism. After the preaching, Kevin, Makau, Kariuki and I spend the next one and half hours praying for the boys individually. The boys queued all around the hall as they came to see us one at a time. We must have prayed for over 200 boys individually. They confessed their sins and their struggles. We listened to them, led them to repentance, prayed for them and blessed them. It was a very reviving experience. The four of us went for a nyama choma lunch after the ministry at Castle Gardens in Garden Estate.

Ernest’s Surgery – Monday 11th – Wednesday 13th September 2023

I was admitted at AAR Hospital Kiambu Road for my achilles tendon surgery. The surgery went well. I was numb from my waist down during the surgery. I was awake from my waist up. The surgery went well. The doctors were very professional. I was admitted for two days. They put a cast on my foot and gave me crutches. Mobility has been a problem and so most of my time in the month was spent in the house. Tendons take a while to heal, so it means I will be healing for the next few months. As a result, I have had to cancel many ministry engagements. After two weeks, the cast was removed. I was given a big medical boot to protect my leg. The boot has five removable wedges inside of it. These wedges will keep my foot in an inclined position until it heals well enough to be in a flat position. I am doing my best to maintain a good attitude.  Please pray for my complete healing.

Speaking at Nairobi Chapel Ngong Road – Sunday 24th September 2023

I was invited by Pastor Bella Mburu to speak to the teens at Nairobi Chapel Ngong. Pastor Bella wanted to cancel the engagement because of my foot, but I told her I would make it. I preached while seated. We were covering the topic of Engaging LGBTQ ideology. We had a great interactive time with the teens and equipped them with a lot of apologetics on how to defend the faith.

Premarital Season 8 Retreat – Saturday 30th September 2023

Waturi and I held the retreat for the eight season of the premarital class at Olsupat Lodge in Rongai. We didn’t do it at Maasai Lodge because there was a concert going on at the time. We had a team of 38 people at the retreat. It was very exciting! One gentleman proposed to his girlfriend at the retreat. We were excited because we were starting the next premarital class on the next day.

TESTIMONIES

We were pleased to hear that several couples who had been attending Boy Meets Girl for the past seven years got married and started families. We encountered about three couples with these testimony.
