Ministry Report: August 2023
Family Update
The holidays came and went. The children closed school at the start of August and returned on the last week. They attended VBS (Vacation Bible School) at CITAM Thika Road. We enjoyed time with them. Ernest tore his achille’s tendon on his right leg while playing football. The tear is bad. He is walking using a stick. Doctors say the only option for restoring his walk is a surgery. Please pray for his full healing.

Deliverance for W – Tuesday 1st August 2023
A woman by the name W came for inner healing and restoration. W was struggling with deep mother and father wounds. Her mother had insulted her severally, including accusing her of sleeping with her father. She had tried reconciling with her mother, but she denied all the things she said and did. Her father was a very passive man who was unavailable for her emotionally. W had also had several sexual relationships with men. She was seeking for love and solace in the wrong places. As a result, she had experienced several repercussions from the sexual sin including several abortions and children out of wedlock. W wept through the prayer session. She repented passionately through the different sections of the assignment. After we covered all areas, she confessed that she was feeling very liberated and light in her heart.
Ministry to M – Tuesday 1st August 2023
A young man called M came to see for counselling. M was referred to me by his mother. He was addicted to bhang and alcohol. He was also addicted to masturbation. He had been taken for therapy, but he was unwilling and stubborn. M was also having an illicit sexual relationship an older woman. He was feeling bound to this woman and was unwilling to let go. In the session, he admitted that his life was a wreck and that he had wasted himself. From my conversations with his mother, I could tell that M only came to see me to please his parents. Knowing this, I interceded for his soul before our meeting. After he shared his life story, I shared with him the gospel. I explained to him the depravity of his sin and the eternal judgement that follows it. I showed him the insufficiency of his good deeds and the wrath of God over his life. I then explained the love of God for him and the perfect sacrifice of Jesus on calvary to redeem him. M was moved and repented. He gave his life to Christ in my office. I directed him to a church near his home (CITAM Clay City). I know the senior pastor there. I told him to share the good news of his conversion and to enrol in baptism classes. I also gave him a copy of my book, Holy Joe. We will meet after he is done reading it.
Deliverance for Y – Wednesday 2nd August 2023
A young woman by the name Y came for inner healing and restoration. This was our third and final session. Y had been in a string of relationships with several men. All of them had ended painfully and many of them were characterised by sexual sin. She was also harbouring a lot of pain from her father who had been violent to her mother and perennially promiscuous. Y revealed that the LORD had led her to pursue him without the distraction of a romantic relationship. She therefore committed herself to a life of singlehood according to the instruction of the LORD until she was mature enough to be in a relationship that leads to marriage. After the session, she was very relieved and said she felt revived.
Deliverance for R – Wednesday 2nd August 2023
A woman by the name R came for inner healing and restoration. R was harbouring father wounds and mother wounds. They had destroyed her psychologically and she found herself looking for comfort in relationships with men. The relationships went sour, and she was left with bitter regret after an abortion and several sexual relationships. R was devastated by the chaos in her own marriage. The assignment we gave her was harrowing but it opened her eyes to the issues in her marriage. She cried a lot during the session but trudged through every section of forgiveness, repentance and claiming the promises of God in His word. When the session was done, she confessed to feeling a heavy weight leave her soul. She was determined to have her husband book an appointment with us.
Deliverance for S – Thursday 3rd August 2023
A young woman by the name S reached out for inner healing and restoration. S lived very far away, so we had the session via Zoom. She was a foreigner who had moved into Kenya with her family. Part of her life had been spent outside the country and the other part in Kenya. S was harbouring bitterness from relationships gone wrong, including one with a mentor and spiritual authority. She was also struggling
with an addiction to porn and masturbation. The assignment gave her hope for restoration. She prayed very passionately through all the sections. We managed to complete the session in one seating. S admitted that doing the session was one of the best things she had every done because of the many secret sins she was harbouring. She admitted feeling tremendously relieved after we were done.
Deliverance for W – Thursday 3rd August 2023
A young man by the name W reached out for inner healing and restoration. W had been part of one of the previous Powerhouse cohorts that we had taught. He needed special care because of a myriad of issues that were affecting him. He had been orphaned while he was a teenager. He had two younger brothers who looked up to him. W and his brothers were forced to live with aunties and uncles after the death of their parents. One particular aunt was emotionally and physically abusive. W was driven to the point of suicide and depression. He was also battling an addiction to porn and masturbation. He had been involved in some homosexual activity and fornication that left him feeling hopeless. He was surprised and relieved that he could talk openly about these secret sins. As we prayed, he felt more hopeful. When he got home, he texted me saying that he was awestruck at the transforming experience the LORD had done in his life in just one day.
Ministry to I – Thursday 3rd August 2023
I had a scheduled session with a middle-aged woman from Nyanza called I. I had gotten married while a teenager. She had gotten pregnant by a man who refused to take responsibility to raise a family. While he was cavorting with other women and addicted to alcohol, the years went by and she found herself raising three children by herself. She had sacrificed her education. She had suffered some miscarriages and had committed some abortions in the process. She was bitter and angry and was in the process of walking out of her marriage. I decided to help her with the inner healing and restoration process but realised she was not a believer. So, I shared the gospel with her. She listened intently and responded when I asked her questions. I explained to her the holiness of God, the depravity of her sin, the wrath and judgement of God, the saving grace and mercy of Jesus the Messiah, and the hope for eternal life by grace through faith. She was overwhelmed by the goodness of God in the person of Jesus. She made a prayer of repentance and gave her life to Christ. As soon as she finished the prayer, something supernatural happened to her. She felt a heavy weight lift off her shoulders. She exclaimed in joy that she felt something leave her. Then in a shout of joy she said, “Wow! I feel so free!” She did not understand fully what happened but I could tell that the joy of the Holy Spirit was upon her. I later received a phone call from I’s sisterin-law (she is the one who linked us up0. I’s sister-in-law asked what had happened to I.She said she was seeing a brand new person and could not imagine that one phone call cold bring about such a change in someone’s behaviour and attitudes towards life, especially in the middle of pain and suffering. The change in I is not because she talked to Ernest but because she talked to Jesus.
Deliverance for N- Friday 4th August 2023
A woman by the name N reached out for inner healing and restoration. This was our second session. In this session, we helped N with ungodly beliefs about God and about herself. She was in a state of hopelessness on account of low self-esteem and the belief that God had abandoned her. She had some great enterprises that she had not launched. The session was very liberating for her and she got rejuvenated to start her life all over again, despite being in her late forties.

By the time she came to see us, she was one month away from fulfilling an oath she made to herself to end her life. M, in her hopelessness of life, found pleasure in sex. She had lived a life of immorality and debauchery. The exercise we gave her was difficult because she had to come face to face with herself. However, she was glad she completed it. She had developed anxiety and a deep sense of hopelessness. Her parents were preoccupied with many other things and did not notice their daughter lose her zeal for life. K eventually got suicidal and attempted to do so a number of times. Her parents were shocked by this and did everything in their power to help her. K met me while I was preaching in a church in Nairobi. She came forward for the altar call. I laid hands on her after she summarised her story. The suicidal thoughts disappeared that day. TESTIMONIES
Hi Ernest, It’s been a long while since February! Hope you and Waturi and the babies are doing well. I just wanted to say a big thank you. As you advised I spoke to my brother about how hurt I was…he understood and it was a very healing conversation for me. Also, apparently his wife had pulled back cause she had not felt really welcome in our family and assumed it’s cause we didn’t like her. So now we’ve reconciled! And I’ve been walking in a lot of freedom. I’m very grateful and wanted to say thank you. I’ve really benefited from God’s working in you guys all through. Waturi prayed for me back in 2015 to be delivered from hate and I was completely delivered and me and that person are now basically best friends which is crazy. Also, in a BMG a long time ago Waturi talked about her relationship with her mother-in-law and how she was intentional to call her regularly. Somehow it stuck with me and unlike a few of my friends I’ve really been intentional with calling and my relationship with my soon to be mother in law is really amazing and easy! I would never have had that idea to call. Also, at a BMG I was prayed to be delivered from sexual sin and soon after I was completely delivered to this day. I don’t know if I told you that your story of purity with Waturi before marriage really impacted me when I was an unbeliever and started my questioning of my fake faith (at the time). Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks and encourage you guys and say I’m praying for you and God bless and continue to carry you and keep you fruitful.
MINISTRY UPDATES
We have added a new arm to our ministry – Girl Power! We are now offering women the same kind of ministry that we have offered the men for the past seven years. Because of the heavy ministry work, we have decided to do our podcasts on a fortnight basis. Our book Baesics was pirated by a member of our previous premarital class. We caught the person and they apologised, claiming they did not know converting the ebook file to PDF was illegal. We made keen follow ups and ensured that all traceable illegal copies were deleted.
We have innovated a new board game. We are calling it “Logos: The Ultimate Bible Board Game.” Logos is an idea that started in 2017. Over the years, while doing youth ministry, we noticed a few gaps in the mission field. From a general observation, biblical illiteracy seemed to be on a steady increase, especially among urban youth and teens. Some had access to the scriptures but struggled to draw out their power for everyday living. Our time in the mission field has proven this fundamental truth to be solid- that intimacy with the scriptures is a vital weapon in a believer’s struggle against sin and pursuit of righteousness. We have given the people we have ministered to statistics on the benefit of scripture consumption and even taught them how to do a personal quiet time. But nothing has driven the point home like the charades game on the Bible that we started giving in 2017. With time, I developed the game into something more challenging that would spur individuals to know their Bible better and have competitive fun at the same time. I borrowed a few ideas from some popular board games we know and made our own unique version. After several test groups and feedback notes, we finally came up with LOGOS.
Logos is a Greek Word that means God’s divine revelation. We have a board, a maximum of five teams, a timer and an explosion of fun that will make you want to really rev your Bible knowledge engines. It is a great resource for family devotions, hangouts with friends, holiday plans, church retreats, youth camps, and game nights. Logos is available for 4900 KES.
