Ministry Report: May 2021
It has been an exciting month in the ministry. We have seen God’s hand move. Here is a summary of what the LORD has enabled us to do this past one month, by His good grace.
Family Update
Waturi completed the coursework for her Masters. She is pursuing a Masters in Organisational Development at USIU-Africa. She is only left with her project. She has been especially resilient and we are grateful. The children, Thandiwe and Ivanna, are on holiday break. We are enjoying their company. Ernest’s grandfather passed away. He was 87-years-old. He knew the LORD Jesus. He had a tremendous impact on Ernest’s faith journey while Ernest was a child. He fell sick and passed away suddenly on 26th May 2021. His death was sudden but received well because of his righteous life. Ernest wrote a tribute to him. You can read it here: https://www.facebook.com/ernest.wakhusama/posts/10223487659393091
PCEA THOME HIGHCHOOLERS FORUM- Wednesday 28th April 2021
Pastor David Ndegerege, the youth pastor at PCEA Thome invited me to speak to the high-schoolers who were on holiday, The topic was relationships, with a slant on sexual purity. We covered 1st Thessalonians 4:1-8. The turn-out of the teens was dismal. We only had two teenagers who showed up. I shared the gospel with the two teenage girls and exegeted the text from Paul’s first letter to the church of Thessalonica. Their silence was deafening but the LORD encouraged me that the message got out there. The message was recorded for those who
could not make it.
DC UMOJA PURE DEAL CONFERENCE- 28th to 30th April 2021

I was invited by Pastor Pam Dreda to be the lead facilitator for the annual youth conference by Deliverance Church Umoja. The conference was dubbed PURE DEAL. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the conference was held via Zoom. The theme was from;
Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV).
The emphasis was on purity of body, heart and mind. I conducted three plenaries and three workshops. My other two facilitators were my wife, Waturi, and fellow podcaster, David Kimani. The number of girls who had been raped was heart-breaking. The highlight of the conference was the inner healing and prayer session on the final day. On this day, we took the youth through prayers of forgiveness, prayers of repentance and restoration to sanctification in their Christian walk. Each day had about 150 youth show up for the conference. The picture below is of some of the leaders (Tevin, Ruth and Joyce). They were part of a dedicated team to ensure the youth were edified with the Gospel. I have not come across a more dynamic youth group in Nairobi City who are passionate to serve the LORD in their youth. They paid me a home visit to say thank you. I made them tea and we shared a few laughs and highlights from the conference.

JOSIE MIDDLETON’S BAPTISM- Monday 3rd May 2021

A friend of ours from the United Kingdom made a commitment to deepen her walk with the LORD. She had been born-again but not yet baptised. She asked me to baptise her. Her family and friends from the UK attended the baptism via Zoom. Two of her friends here in Kenya witnessed the baptism in person.
FOCUS KENYA: Engaging LGBTQ- Friday 5th May 2021
FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian Unions) Kenya invited me to speak to their Kenyan staff on engaging LGBTQ in campus. The presentation covered the realities on the LGBTQ movement around the world. Many of the staff members were surprised at the inroads that the movement has made globally. I shared on how to make a hermetically sealed Gospel-centered case against the LGBTQ movement. We also shared on how to minister to campus students in the Christian Unions who are struggling with LGBTQ orientations. The heart of the session was to preach the Gospel to every creature and to be shrewd ministers in engaging culture instead of dismissing it.
CITAM MOMBASA HOPES CLASS- Friday 8th May 2021
Pastors John and Esther Mutinda of CITAM Mombasa invited Ernest to speak to the Hopes class of CITAM Mombasa. The topic was Living with Others. The text was 2 Samuel 13:1-21. In this forum, the youth were compelled to examine their relationships with family and friends and establish who fit the following bills: abusers, enablers, ignorers, reactors and avengers. These five people play a role in the pain that we experience as we live with people. We had a session of healing and forgiveness and had great testimonies from the young people of burdens being lifted.
POWERHOUSE MOUNT LONGONOT HIKE- Saturday 15th May 2021

Having completed season 11 of Powerhouse, the men celebrated with a trekking hike on Mount Longonot in Naivasha county. Only 10 men made it. Many were unavailable owing to their location. Some were unavailable because of work and others chose to remain at home, not fancying the outdoor activity. We climbed the mountain in about an hour and made it around the crater in three hours. The men shared their testimonies of victory from Powerhouse as well as areas they were still working on. I spent some time talking to them about biblical masculinity and what it means to prepare for marriage. The men hilariously called my talk the sermon on the mount. I decided that we would hike the mountain after every Powerhouse training. Here are pictures of the moments we shared.

V’S DELIVERANCE- Tuesday 18th May 2021
A young man by the name of V approached me. He was going through clinical depression and battling porn addiction. We established that there were several areas of his life that were wounded, especially from his childhood. We took him through a session of inner healing and restoration. He forgave his offenders, renounced ungodly beliefs and reclaimed his identity in Christ. There was a stronghold of witchcraft from his mother’s side of the family. By the grace of God, its hold was broken and V was freed totally.

M’S SALVATION- Saturday 22nd May 2021
One year ago, a lady by the name of M came to see Ernest for some relationship issues. Ernest instructed her to end the toxic relationship and surrender her life to Christ. She was reluctant and went silent. One year later, she called Ernest again. The relationship had caused her intense pain that resulted in a few surgeries and a forced abortion. When she visited our home during this weekend, she was more broken than before. She agreed to end the relationship. Ernest preached to her the Gospel. She believed and she gave her life to Christ. She has since ended the relationship and has been baptised.
E’S DELIVERANCE- Monday 24th May 2021
A 14-year-old girl by the name of E called Ernest. She was a participant in a recent event where Ernest was speaking. She got Ernest’s number and called him. She was being tormented by demons. She could see their faces and hear them scream and whisper in her ears. They were telling her to commit suicide and to cut herself. The girl had several cuts on her arms. She was suffering from depression as well. I spoke to her Pastor and her mother and planned to see her. The girl told us her story. She had been sexually active after being gang raped by certain strangers at a party. She experimented with lesbianism and went full throttle into the lifestyle. She had been rejected by many and was suspicious on the love of those from her church. When I met her, I shared the Gospel. She believed and repented before us. As soon as began declaring with her mouth that Jesus is LORD, her lips became sealed and she could not talk. She felt a choking sensation and a feeling of dizziness. There were unclean spirits preventing her full deliverance. She saw one of thedemons come into the room and sit on a chair across her, studying her. After she explained this to us, she passed out. We rebuked the unclean spirit and she regained consciousness. We then began to cast out the unclean spirits. They left with weak resistance. He LORD in his mercy revealed to us the names of the main strongholds of the unclean spirits. After we exorcised the last demon, she saw a vision of a bright white light. In her dizziness she spurted out the words, “the chains are broken.” E felt a person embrace her on her seat. It was a physical embrace as with a real person. She felt a huge relief and intense peace. She cemented her faith in Jesus and felt freed immediately. She regained her consciousness. We took her home and ministered to the mother. We left them a financial gift as they were very poor. We encouraged E to enrol for baptism in her church. She will be making a public declaration of her faith soon.
M’S DELIVERANCE- Tuesday 25th May 2021
M came to us after having suffered a bitter divorce that left her rejected by her family. She and her daughter had both been raped by her brother. She had deep seated unforgiveness and resentment. We reminded her of the Gospel and she humbled herself. She went through a session of inner healing and forgiveness. There were strongholds of witchcraft in her life. When we prayed, she lost consciousness. She recalls going into a dark chasm and not being aware of what was happening. She then felt many things leave her through her mouth as we prayed for her. She was fully delivered. Like many people, she kept saying that she felt light. A day after her session, she was meditating on some promises that God revealed to her through us in the session. She said, she felt another weight leave her and she felt doubly light. She was on the verge of losing her faith in God. She rededicated her life to Christ on this day and restarted her Bible reading.
JACKIE’S BAPTISM- Thursday 27th May 2021

One of our friends, Jackie Kaburu, who recently came to Christ got baptised.
CITAM BURUBURU YOUNG PROFESSIONALS SESSION- Thursday 27th May 2021
CITAM Buruburu held a session on relating with the opposite sex. Ernest shared with a group of 50 young adults who are contemplating marriage. It was a refreshing interactive.
MINISTRY UPDATES
- The LORD impressed us to offer the premarital class for free. We obeyed and received over 308 individual registrations. We are taking only a small number. We will push the rest to the next season.
- We have an upcoming website for the ministry. Thank God with us for that.
Thank you for the support you have given to our ministry.
