Ministry Report: April 2021
It has been an exciting month in the ministry. We have seen God’s hand move. Here is a summary of what the LORD has enabled us to do this past one month, by His good grace.
Family Update
Waturi completed the coursework for her Masters. She is pursuing a Masters in Organisational Development at USIU-Africa. She is only left with her project. She has been especially resilient and we are grateful. The children, Thandiwe and Ivanna, are on holiday break. We are enjoying their company.
Young Adult’s Seminar CITAM Thika Road – 4th April
We spoke at CITAM Thika Road’s young adult fellowship. The group consisted largely or single male and females between the ages of 19-30. In this session, we explored the things that singles ought to do to grow themselves as suitable candidates for the institution of marriage, namely: a thriving relationship with God through Christ Jesus, a pursuit of one’s purpose and a submission to authority (the scriptures, the church and accountability mentors). We continue to see the need for more Gospel-centered teaching on marriage. A lot of the teaching is moralistic but not centered on the Gospel message of salvation. Please pray for more labourers to join the field.
Ariela Movement – 8th April
Ariela Movement is a Christian ladies’ program that helps girls develop into God-honouring women. Waturi and I were privileged to teach the girls on what it means to have a firm identity. We tackled the main idols that plague girls in the 21 st Century- approval from relationships with men, physical beauty and personal success. We highlighted from Mark 1:11 how the Gospel of the LORD Jesus redeems us from the cravings of our idols and grants us strength to stand firm in a culture that is demanding more than women can deliver.
Radio Interview at Truth FM- 10th April
Truth FM Radio presenter, Stella Gatogo, hosted Ernest in a session titled “Emotional Affairs and Boundaries.” Ernest and Stella had a live on air conversation on how Christian men and women can honour one another while relating with one another.
L’s deliverance – 11th April
We held a session of inner healing and restoration for a lady called L. L was a student in our premier premarital class. She reached out for inner healing after having observed certain negative chronic patterns that were inhibiting her Christian life, especially while relating with men. In the prayer session, a strong bondage of witchcraft was broken. L was very broken and was unable to pray on several instances on account of the hurt from previous relationships. She managed to get through and forgive all her offenders and turn over a new leaf. Her restoration was very dynamic. During the prayer session we could feel a soothing purifying fire fill the entire room.
A’s deliverance – 12th April
We held a session of inner healing and restoration for a lady called A. A is in the country briefly from Europe. She was happy to take part in the session to clear a haul of baggage from pain in past relationships. The LORD showed A several visions during the session that confirmed several Bible promises she had received in her younger days. During the session the Holy Spirit kept emphasising on A’s need to delve deeply into the scriptures. For the short time that she is here in Kenya we will assist in discipling her and Bible study.
ROPES boys’ Camp PCEA Kahawa Farmers- 13th April
The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Kahawa West parish invited Ernest to speak to boys aged 13-15 years who had undergone circumcision. We were honoured to help their transition from childhood to adulthood by helping them understand biblical sexuality. Four boys publicly repented of pornography and dedicated their lives to Christ. The Government of Kenya allowed the camps to continue provided they
had no more than 15 people and were within Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.
Jacinta’s conversion- 13th April
Jacinta is a lady who attended campus with us at USIU. She contacted Ernest following an abusive relationship. Ernest visited her office in Parklands and shared the Gospel with her while seated on a bench. Jacinta repented and surrendered her life to Christ. Additionally, she ended the abusive relationship and started reading her bible. She also joined our church- Mamlaka Hill Chapel Ruaka. We are looking into disciplining her into maturity.
Peris’ family’s conversion- 15th April
A lady called Peris has been a beneficiary of inner healing and restoration through our ministry. She invited us to pray for her family. She has four children. We visited the house and shared the Gospel with the children. We used a board to explain in drawing what the Gospel is. Below is a picture of the presentation we did. All four children were convicted on sin, righteousness and judgement. All four children aged 19, 11, 11 and 7, willingly knelt, repented and gave their lives to Christ. We directed Peris to The Navigators to get material to disciple the children. These were her word of gratitude,
“Thank you so much for coming over today. My children are blessed through the visit…Today we will start our study of the book of Mark.”
Ewagata Unchained – 15th April & 22nd April
Pastors David and Rose Ewagata run a youth mentorship forum called YHub. On the April 15th session Ernest shared with the youth via Zoom on the relationship between pornography and gender based violence. On the session on the 22nd, he shared on the topic Gender Based Violence: Why is the Church silent? A recording of the second session is available here.
G’s deliverance – 18th April
A lady called G came in for a session on inner healing and restoration. Powerful spiritual bondages of witchcraft and divination were broken by the blood of Jesus Christ. During the session, G heard unclean spirits scream in defiance when we prayed in the name of Jesus. At the end of the session, we saw a vision of a huge snake leaving her and seized by the angels of God. We believe that this was the bondage of witchcraft. At the end of the session, the Holy Spirit gave G peace. In her own words she said,
“I am truly free. I feel so light.”
ROPES girl’s camp PCEA Kahawa Farmers – 20th April
Ernest returned to the PCEA camp to talk to the girls aged 13-15. He took them through a session on biblical identity and sexuality. It was evident that father figures play a role in the healthy development of girls. Five girls publicly forgave their dads and renewed their faith in God.
The G Family deliverance – 21st April
Pastor G of a Full Gospel Church in Kiambu County invited us to pray for his family. The elderly pastor and his wife moved us with their humility when they knelt in their living room to be prayed for. Being at least half their age, we were humbled to pray. The Spirit of God filled the room. Bondages of financial stagnation, mental illness, infirmity and witchcraft all broke under the power of the blood of Jesus. The Holy Spirit kept affirming us using,
Matthew 11:28 during the session of prayer “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He also encouraged us with Matthew 28:20b “I am with
you always, to the very end of the age”
M’s deliverance – 22nd April
M suffered a painful heartbreak. She was constantly bombarded by suicidal thoughts and depression cycles. During the prayer session, the LORD kept calling M to the secret place to receive strength from the scriptures. She forgave her ex and started a new leaf.
L’s deliverance- 23rd April
L is a university student at Multimedia University. She was being tormented by unclean spirits in her dreams. She would have several sexual dreams that had the fingerprints of demons all over them. We prayed for her freedom and broke the yoke of lust in her life. L also harboured a lot of bitterness and unforgiveness towards her parents. When she forgave, she felt a huge burden leave her. We are teaching her to sustain herself through daily prayer and bible reading.
Powerhouse 3rd to 24th April
We have been running Powerhouse throughout the month. Powerhouse is a men’s program to help men break free from the bondages of sexual sin. We had 75 men enrolled in the class. 50 of them actively attend every week. The LORD implored us to make Powerhouse free of charge. It has been like that and has opened opportunities to reach more men. We remain confident that God will provide.

Baptism of Ngami and Riziki- 24th April
Ngami is a friend of Turi and I from the university. She gave her life to Christ last year. She was hoping to get baptised this year but the churches in Nairobi were on lockdown. She went into her prayer closet and she said that the LORD directed her to Ernest. She called and told us her desire. We set up a Zoom call and heard her testimony. We asked her a few question. Having ascertained her belief in Christ, we scheduled her baptism. Riziki is a new disciple of Ernest. Ernest led her to Christ last year. She too was baptised on the same day. Ernest also baptised a young man whom we shall call E for the sake of his own safety. We shall only share the photos of Ngami’s and Riziki’s baptism.

Discipleship
Ernest began a new discipleship class using The Navigators Growing In Discipleship series. He will be meeting the team every Monday morning. The group consists of five believers.
